About Oldphotorevive

Oldphotorevive is a small web tool for one chore: taking a scratched, creased or faded family print and giving back a cleaner copy you can compare against the original.

The crease across the face

Most shoeboxes hold a few pictures that matter far more than the rest: a wedding portrait, a grandparent at twenty, a house that was torn down. They are also the ones with the crease across the face. Hiring a retoucher for each of them adds up, so this site offers a quicker first pass that costs a few dollars at most.

Where the repair stops, and who is behind it

It cannot recover content that is truly gone. Where a tear crosses a face, the AI draws a plausible face, not the real one, and colors are a guess rather than history. If a picture is for a memorial, a legal record or a genealogy file, keep the original scan next to the restored copy.

Oldphotorevive is run independently. It is not part of, endorsed by, or affiliated with any camera, scanner, archive, genealogy or AI company, and the model behind the repair is supplied by a third-party service.

From scan to slider

  1. You pick a file. Your browser shrinks it and re-saves it as a JPEG, which drops location metadata.
  2. You press restore. The picture goes to our server and on to an outside AI image service that does the repair; optional colorizing happens in the same step.
  3. The result comes back to your browser once. We do not save the photo or the result. The slider lets you check the faces before you download.

Cost, and where to write

One free low-resolution restore a day, then one-time credit packs (10 photos for $4.99, 40 photos for $12.99). No subscription, so a pack never lapses. The per-photo math sits on the pricing page.

Questions, bad results and deletion requests go to [email protected]. More on the contact page; data handling is explained in the privacy notes.
